Season Opener, Sunday, September 28, 3 PM, Ventura First United Methodist Church: The orchestra opens our season with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, “Scottish,” the first symphony to be written without breaks between the four movements. It was inspired by young Mendelssohn’s appreciation for the beauty and history of Scotland.

We follow this with Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, featuring Eleanor Shen, violin, Miles Goosby, cello, and Louise Lofquist, piano. Eleanor and Miles are classmates and recent graduates of The Juilliard School; Louise is a former professor at Pepperdine University, where she taught piano, voice, diction, and chamber music. We are proud to support this next generation of outstanding young musicians!
