SYNOPSIS:
Fonsia Dorsey is brand new to a nursing home (that wasn’t her first choice to live at), and she strikes up a friendship of sorts with current resident, Weller Martin. Weller decides to help pass the time by playing gin with her, and the two engage in a battle of wits, words, friendship, cards, and more as they both try to ease the loneliness of their age and stations.

As Weller continues to lose to Fonsia, he grows more frustrated and she gains more confidence until the friendly game of gin turns into a means to expose the other’s weaknesses.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, “The Gin Game” explores themes of family, love, solitude, shame, lies, and ultimately struggles that anyone can relate to.
