The eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights begins the evening of Sun., Dec. 18 with a candle being lit at sunset to commemorate the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem some 2,000 years ago.

Chabad’s 20th annual Chanukah Festival and Grand Menorah Lighting will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sun., Dec. 18 at Constitution Park, 1287 Paseo Camarillo, near City Hall.
The event will offer community members an opportunity to help fill a giant menorah with chocolate coins.
The celebration will include juggler Obadiah, live music, crafts for the kids, greetings from the Camarillo mayor, dignitaries, hot latkes and doughnuts, opportunity drawing prizes including a 20-inch Opus mountain bike from the Newbury Park Bike Shop and chocolate coins.
The event will also feature a gelt drop by the Camarillo Fire Department.
