Studio Channel Islands launches its 25th anniversary year with a nod to its past. On March 2nd Grammy Award winning musician Gordon Goodwin will perform with his Little Phat Band to celebrate the opening of Studio Channel Islands’ Membership Retrospective fundraising exhibition. Studio Channel Islands was founded 25 years ago on the site of what was to become California State University Channel Islands. One of the signature programs of the organization was its Art and Jazz events which brought hundreds of people out to the campus to enjoy great art and music.

Gordon Goodwin has been nominated for twenty-two Grammys and won four. He has been awarded three Emmys for his work in TV and Film, and is long established as one of the premier music score composers in Hollywood. Aside from his celebrated work in film and television, Goodwin is also the leader of his own 18-piece band, The Big Phat Band, which has performed four times at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert at Studio Channel Islands will feature Gordon Goodwin and his Little Phat Band, an 8 piece ensemble with all the flair of big band fused with swing, jazz and upbeat improvisation.

The Members Retrospective exhibition features the work of 60 artists who have shared the journey of Studio Channel Islands over the last 25 years. Including a range of paintings, ceramic, sculpture, and photography. Each artwork in the exhibition tells a story, of its creation and its connection to history of Studio Channel Islands.

The Members Retrospective opens to the public on the 2nd of March and closes on the 30th of March. The exhibition concludes with the first Dinner in the Gallery, a sumptuous feast served to your table among the artwork.
