Ventura County Celebration of Books 2024

Save the date for this year’s Ventura County Celebration of Books on Saturday, October 12th on the North Quad! The event is FREE and open to the public.

This year’s book is “Rough Sleepers” by Tracy Kidder which tells the powerful story of Dr. Jim O’Connell’s program to care for Boston’s homeless community.

CSUCI students, faculty, and staff can pick up a FREE copy of “Rough Sleepers” at the library’s Reference Desk while supplies last.

This year’s #VCCB includes a panel discussion on homelessness in Ventura County with CSUCI and community experts, a students-only reception with Dr. O’Connell, and a guest lecture and book signing with Dr. O’Connell. The day’s activities also include food trucks and picnic areas, bilingual storytimes, exhibitor tables, and more!
