The Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing at Camarillo Airport will be hosting a talk by retired Navy Captain Charlie Plumb, a Vietnam vet, fighter pilot, former POW, and one of the most soughtafter achievement speakers of his time. His insights on coping with the difficulties and opportunities in life have a positive impact on those who hear his message, those who read his books, and those who come to know him as a friend. You need to come and listen!
There will also be several iconic CAF So Cal, flyable aircraft on display like the iconic Supermarine Spitfire and the celebrated F6F Hellcat. After the event, their docents will be available to answer questions about the exhibits and offer guided tours of their museum. Light refreshments will be available during the
event. Don’t forget to ask about their Warbird Ride Program. Experience what it was like to fly in a Warbird back in the day.
The CAF Southern California Wing is a volunteer organization with members from many different backgrounds. The wing is dedicated to preserving the history of WWII aircraft for generations to come. This CAF location is assigned 12 authentic military aircraft that are maintained and operated by their volunteers. In addition to flying aircraft, the wing also has a wide-ranging collection of World War II artifacts displayed in a Hangar Museum. Due to COVID restrictions, their opening hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, and Sunday, 12 PM to 4 PM. They are closed on Monday-Thursday and some holidays. The newly expanded wing at over 55,000 square feet includes three hangar complexes to house their museum, flying aircraft, warbird restorations, and gift shop.
