National Plan for Vacation Day Calls for Time Off to Rejuvenate

Welcoming a new year is a great chance to embrace new beginnings and incorporate more wellness into your routine. Time to rest helps us work more productively, feel motivated in daily life, and so much more. We often get busy and too caught up in work, not using our valuable vacation time to relax and recharge. Mark your calendars! National Plan for Vacation Day on January 30, 2024 encourages you to reclaim your vacation days, plan good use of hard-earned time off and foster connection. Camarillo is just the spot to make all that happen!

Plan Your Stay

Whether planning your trip to Camarillo on the official day or any other time of the year, grab a friend, loved one or fly solo and book a night or two at one of our many comfortable lodging options. However you most like to unwind, you’re sure to find a place to do it in Camarillo.

Day 1:

Refresh at the Spa

After checking into your hotel, head to a nearby spa for some R&R. It’s proven that relaxation allows the brain to rest while reducing the harsh effects of stress on your body. From pampering services to mindfulness sessions, there’s a self-care option that will meet your needs. Functional Health + Wellness is a local healing center offering massages and holistic nutrition services. Camarillo’s medical spas love to help you look and feel your best. Plush Med Spa offers traditional facials and massages as well as IV therapies, facial rejuvenation, and skin resurfacing. Beauty Lounge Med Spa is our not-so-secret wellness weapon, offering vitamin shots and IV therapies in addition to non-surgical beauty treatments like liquid facelifts, chemical peels and body contouring.

Fuel up with something nutritious

For a bite before or after your treatment, hit up some of our local favorites. Stop in at Make it Healthy for protein and superfood smoothies, energizing teas, and fresh-pressed juice. Don’t miss a “Camarillo Berry Bliss” smoothie at the newly opened Old Town Smoothie Bar. If you’re looking for more of an upscale lunch or dinner, Twenty 88 is a contemporary bistro that features a variety of healthy and flavorful menu options to work with your diet.

Day 2:

Heal your Mind, Body, Spirit

Practicing mindfulness and gentle workouts are great ways to incorporate wellness into not just your daily home routine, but your vacation routine too. Camarillo-Somis Yoga & Mindfulness offers accessible meditation and functional yoga with specialized classes for people of all ages and experience levels. While in town, consider a yoga class, meditation or therapy session with Mission Oaks Counseling & Wellness Center, Inc. Flex your muscles and your brain! Let go of stress and anxiety with a personal training session or group workout class with Ufit Bootcamp Studios. Exercise will do you good!

Retail Therapy

Spend some time with your spiritual side hunting for crystals or candles at Malones Metaphysics & More. Schedule a session with the organization’s in-house tarot readers or energy healers to delve even further. If you’re staying near the Camarillo Premium Outlets, consider a little retail therapy to round out the day with shops like lululemon, Merrell, Adidas and more, then head to Ubatuba Acai for a refreshing acai bowl. Just up the street, Urbane Café has a casual menu of salads, sandwiches and bowls.

Day 3:

Find Your Path

Getting active, especially in Camarillo’s invigorating fresh air, has endless health and wellness benefits. It can help improve blood flow, clear the mind, increase energy, and so much more. There are many trails with varying levels of difficulty and lively outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Camarillo to explore.

For an easy hike, try out the Daryl Wagar or Hill Canyon trails in Camarillo Grove Park. Wildwood Canyon Overlook is a three-mile, moderately difficult loop that many hikers love. Seek stunning views on Conejo Mountain’s Powerline Trail. Our most challenging yet rewarding local adventure is the steep Chumash Trail in Point Mugu State Park. All are great opportunities for fitness as well as exploration of Camarillo’s vibrant environment.

Lively places for mountain biking are also abundant, with several popular trails. You can even enjoy Camarillo’s amazing outdoors while doing some more laid-back activities. Go for a relaxing stroll through a local park, such as Nancy Bush Park or Valle Lindo. Want to feel your toes in the sand? Our favorite beaches are easily accessible and a short drive from Camarillo.

Visit a Local Farm or Farmers Market

We’ve mapped out must-stops on a Camarillo Farm Trail Tour. Before the road trip home, gather natural ingredients to make a healthy home meal at farm stands like The Store at McGrath Family Farms or Underwood Family Farms’ Somis. Or pick up farm-fresh produce — along with arts, crafts, and prepared foods — from local vendors at the Camarillo Certified Farmer’s Market. (Don’t miss this community event which takes place in Old Town every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.)

Remember that setting aside time to rest is incredibly important for mental and physical well-being. We hope you celebrate National Plan for a Vacation Day in 2024 to embrace upcoming vacation days and practice wellness. Come find some relaxation in Camarillo!
