What Is Pickleball?

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine if tennis, badminton, and table tennis were perfectly blended together; well, that’s pickleball! Created in the summer of 1965 by Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum, the now-beloved game was brought to life to entertain their families. Over time, the three men worked together to solidify the rules of the game while still keeping the original purpose in mind: to provide a game everyone could play together.

Today, pickleball has grown into a well-known, endlessly fun sport that is enjoyed by all. Pickleball is, at its heart, still built to include the young or old, the casual or competitive. As a sport, it not only provides a great workout but also hinges on building connections within the community. And seeing as Camarillo is built on the foundation of a strong community, it’s no wonder the sport has been easily embraced throughout Ventura County.
