From hands-on historical attractions to fun-filled entertainment centers to kid-friendly dining, Camarillo is a wonderful spot to spend some time with your family.  Make the most of your weekend break with kids big and small, with this action-packed Camarillo itinerary.

Day 1:

Soak up the sun & hit the beach

In Camarillo, you’re only a short drive up or down the coast from beautiful, sandy beaches! Head south to the friendly town of Malibu for sun and surfing. Try a new adventure (snorkeling or kayaking, anyone?) at the naturally stunning Channel Islands National Park. Catch a boat ride with Island Packers to visit this oasis full of native wildlife species. A drive up along Pacific Coast Highway will bring you to magical spots like Point Mugu State Park and Rincon Point State Beach, both ideal for adventurous beach-goers. Some other well-known spots include Mondos Beach, “C” Street/Surfers Point, and Emma Wood State Beach.

U-Pick at Baby Root Farm

After lunch, head to Baby Root Farm Located on 20 acres at McGrath Family Farm, this specialty micro-farm is dedicated to building regenerative agricultural systems, which are designed to steer production-based farming toward more sustainable methods that benefit the environment, the farmers who grow the food, and the greater community. Learn all about the produce growing process while also tasting some delicious farm-fresh fruits and vegetables.

If you’re looking for a perfect after-dinner treat? Look no further than Mister Softee, located down the street.  They specialize in soft-serve ice cream; cones, sundaes, shakes, floats, banana boats, and more. The perfect way to top off a fun filled day.

Day 2:

Braxton’s Kitchen

Fuel up for a day of fun with breakfast at Braxton’s Kitchen. Everyone in the family is welcome including pets! Braxton’s boasts a healthy farm-fresh menu with a variety of tasty dishes. The chicken and waffles dish is the talk of the town, along with their fluffy pancakes. You’ll find the tried and true breakfast classics along with some innovative twists. Fun fact: Braxton’s donates a portion of their profits every month to local rescues and nonprofits and it is very common to see a pup or two dining with their families on the patio. 

Camarillo Grove Park

Camarillo Grove Park is the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine while hiking. The facility includes signage along the trails with information about our local ecosystems and flora and fauna that can be observed along the path. The park features multiple trails that are rated as easy, so you can pick the path you want to explore for the day. The lower loop is an easier gently sloping trail with oak trees, sage, volcanic rock formations, and more. The upper loop is a moderate hike, over 1 mile in length, with an approximate 600 foot vertical differential. Enjoy the view of Camarillo’s rolling hills and breathe in the fresh air.
