A Seasonal Feast: Autumn Attractions in Camarillo 🎃🍂

Fall is often reported as most people’s favorite time of the year in the U.S., and that’s as true in Camarillo as in cooler parts of the country. Sure, here you’re not quite as likely to spend the season hunting for colorful leaves (we’ve got palm trees), but we certainly aren’t complaining about our year-round sunshine and average temperatures in the 70s! In Camarillo, fall vibes come from beautiful days spent outdoors, the spoils of our local harvest, and a unique array of autumnal events on deck.

Read on to learn about some of our favorite fall activities, and come book a stay with us! Bonus: Hotel rates are typically a little lower outside of the busy summer season!

Outdoor Fun☀️

Perhaps our favorite thing about this time of year is that it’s harvest season. There’s no better spot to enjoy the spoils than Underwood Family Farms during their Fall Harvest Festival, which runs all October. Their Moorpack and Somis locations are both within a short driving distance from Camarillo. Pumpkins, corn mazes, farm animals and photo ops abound. If you’re in search of an organic pumpkin patch, check out our very own McGrath Family Farm, and don’t forget to stop by the farm store to pick up organic, regenerative fruit and vegetables.

Want an outdoor activity with some great views? Grab your sneakers and head out on a hike. Hill Canyon Trail and Bridlewood Trail are great choices for hikers of any age or skill level, and both feature fantastic natural views. If you’re more into cycling, we recommend you check out our Top 5 Biking Trails.

Bonus: Just a few miles outside of Camarillo are some of California’s most pristine and least trafficked beaches. A beach vacation in the fall? Yep! Around these parts, absolutely! Here are our Top 10 Beaches Near Camarillo.

Shopping Galore 🛍️

Any trip to Camarillo has to include a stop by the Camarillo Premium Outlets, a shopping destination with more than 160+ brands from Armani to Zumiez. You’ll find plenty of deals on fall fashions, or you can get a jump on holiday shopping. Excellent promotions are on now at J.Crew Factory, Skechers, Le Creuset, Samsonite and more. Check current offers anytime here. If you need a shopping break, grab a bite and a drink at Latitude 34, a casual fine dining restaurant and bar.

For boutique shopping, head to charming Camarillo Old Town, where you’ll find a mix of smaller shops along with eateries and services.

Seasonal Sipping 🍻

Autumn is an especially fun time to explore Camarillo’s craft breweries, wineries and other watering holes. Hard apple cider just sounds like fall to us, so we have to recommend the Camarillo Cider House, which has an ever-rotating menu of interesting variants including their season-appropriate Pumpkin Cider.

For beer, Institution Ale Co. is … well … an institution in town! Enjoy the Oktoberfest vibes and be sure to grab one of their delicious soft pretzels while you’re at it. They have some fantastic-sounding beers for October, including their Scary Dairy milk stout with a Halloween theme and their 10th Anniversary IPA. Topa Topa Brewing and their “Oktopafest” offerings are also a great choice. Twisted Oak Tavern is another fun stop in Old Town, where they make their own craft beers and frequently have live music and seasonal events.

Wine lovers will find lots of newly bottled vintages available at this time of year at various restaurants, wine tasting rooms and other bars. September is California Wine Month, and it’s traditionally the season of harvest, so October and November tend to bring new vintages to taste. Check out all the best wine spots in Camarillo here.

Coffee, Too! ☕

Fall isn’t called pumpkin spice season for nothing, after all! Hit up a cozy local coffee shop like Common Perk or Tree Lounge to get your caffeine fix and a seasonal pick-me-up.

Also be sure to check out a new addition to the Camarillo drink scene, Old Town Smoothie Bar. They’re offering a fun new collaboration drink with Visit Camarillo called the Camarillo Berry Bliss, celebrating our local berry growers!

Eats & Treats🥞

For autumnal eats, there are great choices at local bakeries and restaurants. Old Town Cafe’s pumpkin bacon pancakes are heavenly. We recommend Old New York Deli for the cutest decorated cookies – the footballs are a hit this time of year! And Cafe Ficelle’s cakes and pastries are always phenomenal. At Camarillo Cupcake, try the pumpkin spice or butter pecan flavors.

And for the ultimate in seasonal eats, of course, you have to head to our Farmers Market. Dozens of local vendors will have the freshest of the fresh, direct from their fields. Check out their website to see which vendors will be at the market each week. We recommend you munch on a pumpkin gingerbread cookie from Bliss Street Baked Goods while you pick out produce, flowers and other goodies.
