Make it A Summer To Remember in Camarillo

The sun is shining, the palm trees are swaying, and it’s a perfect 78 degrees outside. Welcome to summer in Camarillo, where the simple joys of the season evoke childhood nostalgia and the bustling calendar of events sets the stage for new memories just waiting to be made. The farms are abundant with ripe berries and vibrant summer produce. Local parks become gathering places for festivals, concerts, and movie nights. And nearby beaches beckon for afternoon swims and sunset strolls. From classic cars, air shows, and block parties to ice-cold beer, hot shopping deals, Camarillo serves up vintage vibes, sun-soaked days, and cool happenings all summer long.

Must Do’s

Summer weekends kick off with Camarillo Old Town’s Friday Night Car Cruises. Roll down to Ventura Boulevard to check out the classic cars on the fourth Friday of the month (through September) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. These family-friendly block parties on wheels feature live entertainment and place you in the heart of Old Town’s exciting dining and shopping scene. Hunt for vinyl at American Pie Records, catch happy hour at Twenty88 Bistro, treat the family to gourmet burgers at BLVD Burger, and so much more.

Another absolute summer must is attending Summer Concerts in the Park. Put on by the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District and the City of Camarillo, the summer 2024 series features four concerts including a Santana tribute band, Savor, and the well-known 805 Social Club.

Mark your calendar for other popular summer events like the Ventura County Greek Festival, Throwback Thursday Food Truck Festival Series, and Wings Over Camarillo. Sip & Savor

Summer is time for slowing down, socializing, and savoring the flavors of the season. Show the kids where their food is grown on a self-guided Farm Trail trek and do some berry picking—a quintessential Camarillo activity. So is the Saturday Farmers’ Market in Old Town.

When it’s time to graze, hit The Mark, a public market style food hall with a huge outdoor patio space. You’ll find delectable wood-fired pizzas, velvety Rori’s Creamery ice cream, and fresh Topa Topa brews. Beer lovers will also want to drop by Institution Ale Co. for an afternoon pint or for a drink after Friday Night Cruises. Started by a local family, this brewery is a popular neighborhood hangout that specializes in American ales. Make sure to try their flagship beer, Institution IPA, a West Coast-style IPA.

If you’re at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, swing by Finney’s Crafthouse, set to open early 2023 with elevated bar eats and delicious drinks. More nostalgic treats can be found at Mister Softee, a 1950’s ice cream parlor throwback in Camarillo Old Town.
