Are you always in the mood to eat great food? Are your taste buds your best buds? Have you missed festivals with all your heart, soul, and stomach?
Then mark your calendars for the 28th annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival on Sept. 26 in Camarillo! This all-inclusive festival is an absolute dream come true for foodies, wine lovers, and hop heads (and a favorite of Ventura County residents).
You’ll have a blast tasting your way through the day, but it’s difficult to experience everything Camarillo has to offer in just a few hours. Make your experience extra special by turning it into the ultimate foodie staycation with these must-try activities and attractions.
Get the party started on Friday sipping mimosas and watching planes soar into the sky during brunch at the Camarillo Airport’s Waypoint Cafe. The brioche cinnamon roll toast is simply divine or if you’re in the mood for something less decadent, opt for Delaney’s house-made granola bowl with berries and lemon zest.
After brunch, hit the boulevard for some shopping! The Camarillo Premium Outlets has the word “premium” in its name for a reason. It’s one of Ventura County’s premier shopping destinations with more than 150 big-name brands, such as Armani, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Versace, and more.
If you’re looking for a little more local flavor, Camarillo Old Town is the place to go. Mix popping into locally owned shops to look for charming finds with sightseeing, as Old Town is home to beautiful historic statues, the amazing St. Mary Magdalen Church, and Dizdar Park. If you’re there on Saturday, make sure to stop at the Camarillo Certified Farmers Market to grab some crisp fall apples, colorful flowers, and more!
End the day at the sold-out Yummie Top Chef Competition, an action-packed culinary showdown featuring Ventura County’s top restaurants and chefs. A panel of celebrity foodies will judge which contestant’s dish is the yummiest. Will you agree with them?
Your taste buds aren’t the only part of you that deserve a treat. Stop in at Beauty Lounge Med Spa for a rejuvenating facial or other specialized treatment. The spa is known to treat some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and you’ll feel just like them visiting this Camarillo Old Town gem. Follow that up with a relaxing massage and nail treatment at Plush Med Spa.
In the mood for an outdoor adventure? Pack a picnic lunch and a blanket and go on a leisurely drive out to Mission Oaks Park. This is the ideal place to spend a lazy afternoon nibbling on finger foods. There are also barbecue pits and picnic tables if you want to grill and chill, as well as a play structure and dog park so it’s good for the whole family! Or take in the totally gorgeous local views during an afternoon hike along one of Camarillo’s trails.
Wine down after a fun-filled day with a flight of vino at Cantara Cellars, Pantess Cellars, or Back Patio Cellars, or tapas and tasters at Sheila’s Wine Bar & Café. Love grapes and hops? Cantara Cellars shares space with Flat Fish Brewing Company and RELM Wine & Beer Bistro serves both, like its name suggests. The rest of the Camarillo brew crew includes Topa Topa Brewing Co., Institution Ale Co., and Twisted Oak Tavern.
Camarillo is also filled with dozens of restaurants serving unbelievably delish food with fresh, local ingredients. Get in the fall spirit with a seasonally spiced martini and butternut squash ravioli or brandy-peppercorn steak while people watching on the patio at Twenty88. The mild Camarillo weather makes outdoor dining possible anytime!
Now it’s time for the main event! Head to the beautiful CSU Channel Islands for the 28th annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival. Here under the shade of sycamores, pepper trees, and pop-up tents, get a taste of culinary delights and beverages from some of the finest restaurants, shops, breweries and wineries from Santa Barbara to the Conejo Valley.
Make sure to wear your dancing shoes to this groovy shindig because there’s going to be lots of live entertainment, including Bensie’s Band of Gypsies, Bruce Barrios, Wes Quave Live, and Road Brothers.
Over in the VIP tent, funk and soul singers Sound Effect will serenade ticket holders as they sip champagne, nibble on fine hors d’oeuvres, and relax in the Anheuser Busch Belgium Beer Garden.
Proceeds from the festival will go to the Casa Pacifica Centers for Children & Families, a local nonprofit providing essential resources and services to local families in need.
