Take a family road trip to remember in Camarillo

The sun is shining, school’s out, and it’s time for an adventure with you and the fam. Hop in the car and road trip to Camarillo for some quality family time outdoors and exploring local attractions.

Friday

10 a.m. Arrive in Camarillo

10:30 a.m. Go for a hike!

Stretch your legs after a trip in the car! Get some fresh air and take in stunning views on any of Camarillo’s hiking trails. Hill Canyon Trail and Camarillo Grove Park offer outings as well as ample open space for picnicking and playing. 

12 p.m. Lunch at WayPoint Cafe

Located kitty corner to the museum and airport, Waypoint Cafe serves all-American breakfast and lunch options everyone will enjoy! Plus, you get to watch planes land and takeoff while enjoying your buttery Belgian waffle, breakfast burrito, or juicy burger and fries. Pro tip: split a delicious milk-shake, chocolate or coffee flavors are crowd favorites. 

1:30 p.m. Shop at the Camarillo Premium Outlets

Did your son or daughter forget a jacket or hat for your trip? Don’t worry about it! 

Head over to the Camarillo Premium Outlets to grab something new for them—or yourself. It’s also fun to just stroll with a drink and do some window shopping. This open-air outdoor mall features 150-plus outlet stores with popular brands like Michael Kors, Nike, Gucci, Old Navy and many more.

3:30 p.m. Check in at your hotel

Camarillo is home to a fine assortment of family-friendly hotels and inns. Choose the one that suits your needs best, whether based on price, location, or amenities. 

6 p.m. Dinner at BLVD BRGR Co.

Satisfy even the most picky of palettes with dinner at BLVD BRGR Co. You’ll love the laid back atmosphere and welcoming staff, not to mention the adult beverages for mom and dad. Afterwards, take an after dinner stroll in Old Town Camarillo. Home to unique shops, boutiques and local eateries including Mister Softee Ice Cream Shop

Saturday

9 a.m. Breakfast at Old Town Cafe

Start the day off right with breakfast at family-owned Old Town Cafe, located in the heart of Old Town Camarillo. The kids will love the OTC Hash Cakes or French Toast fingers.

10: 30 a.m. Camarillo Certified Farmers Market

Get your kids to eat their veggies and have fun doing it at the Camarillo Certified Farmer’s Market. The whole family will delight in the sights, sounds, and smells found here, thanks to an assortment of fresh produce, live music, and mouth-watering treats. It’s also the perfect place for a light lunch or snack!

1 p.m. U-pick at Gerry Ranch

Get the full farm experience with a trip to Gerry Ranch for blueberry picking! This family-owned and operated farm has been in business since 1945 and has buckets of small-town Camarillo charm. This activity is seasonal, call ahead for availability. 

3 p.m. Skyrider Ultralights 
865 Aviation Dr, Camarillo, CA 93010

This activity was meant for the adventurous in the family. Take a scenic ride on an ultralight. This light sport aviation aircraft allows you to fly low and slow, with the wind in your face, completely out in the open with nothing but earth and sky all around.

6 p.m. Dinner at Ottavio’s Italian Restaurant

You’ll feel like part of the familia at Ottavio’s, celebrating 54 years in Camarillo. The menu includes classics like pizza and pasta, as well as vegetarian and seafood options. 

Sunday

8:30 a.m. Breakfast at Tree Lounge Coffee

Order a hot cappuccino for you and milk for the kids, along with some delicious baked goods made locally at this Old Town favorite.  

12:00 p.m. Tour the Camarillo Ranch

After a trip in the car, stretch your legs and fill your lungs with fresh air at this historic and naturally beautiful Camarillo destination. Wander about the luscious gardens to admire native plants, trees and flowers. Dive into Camarillo’s exciting history by exploring early artifacts, photographs, journals and more from the original Camarillo family. Plus, head to the house for summer events, including the Throwback Thursday Food Truck Festivals!

1:00 p.m. Lunch at Loru’s Cafe

Finish your Camarillo weekend at the family-friendly Loru’s Cafe located within the Camarillo Premium Outlets. Make sure to try their Ensenada Fish Tacos, Ahi Tuna Burger, Mac n’ Cheese for the kiddos, and all day bottomless mimosas for the adults!
